The Letterman Jacket12:56 AMCarla Florendo
So I have my take on the sneaker-wedge trend... jumped into the army bandwagon, ready for service... then babbled about my penchant for hats... I guess it's safe to say I'm conquering fashion one trend at a time! Today I'm showing you my rendition of the letterman jacket. It's super duper late, I know, it's been out there for so long. Believe me, I've been meaning to buy one for the longest time and I could have done so in a snap, but exactly why I haven't? Everyone else has one! Kids here and there, same colors, same materials, it's like the gangnam version of a clothing article, at least in Macau. If you want to stand out from the rest of them, the only way is to buy the expensive ones (I've been eyeing pieces from Nike Kobe line and Opening Ceremony)
Apparently, it's an advantage that I was a fan of casual jackets in my pre-teen years so my mom used to purchase different ones for me, some of which I've kept until today. And when I dig out my old clothes, I am usually able to find something useful and relevant to my preference at the moment. This jacket is one of those that I was able to keep, and when I found it again, knew it was going to be useful somehow... I couldn't pin point why at first, I mean what was so special about it being a really casual jacket. But it hit me - it resembles the look of a letterman jacket from collar to the cuff to the letter patches! Ha! Maybe the reason why I didn't pursue on buying one for myself after all is because I have one all along. Bonus points because they're burgundy, one of this season's colors! But I'm gonna have to leave that as a topic for another post (note: one trend at a time)

Anyway, that's about my jacket. Now we go to my skinnies (yes! no boring story about my life this week nor weather report). I recently acquired some new pairs and was really excited to show you guys. Don't mistake me for not liking skinny jeans with liking skinny pants, they're two completely different things for me. Skinny pants are, well, skinny pants, while skinny jeans are made out of denim, and the latter, I'm not so fond of. While my grandma went about looking for that pair of heels she'd wanted to wear, I took that chance to visit my usual thrift stores in red market and my mom found an overstock pile of mossimo pants on bargain. I couldn't believe my luck! Ah, but there was a little catch - the sizes were all too big! When we got back home, I had to pull on my rusty sewing skills to get those pants properly fitted. Surprise, surprise, I made it happen, and after at least 3 hours of hand sewing (yeah, my sewing machine is busted!), I can proclaim them brand new. This pair is the first of the three that I'm wearing. Will show you another one on my next post so stay tuned!
