Notes and a Tote

... And the big day has come and gone but I still can't fathom the fact that I am now 24. Like what? That was fast. One day I was only entering clubs for the first time, big-eyed and oh-so-curious but now it feels like I'm about to retire and close that phase, dead job with major responsibilities. I mean why can't grow I up slow enough? Ha!

Well I kid, as much as I'm still a kid at heart.

The thing is, I've never been incredibly psyched about my birthday, nor throwing a humongous party for that matter. Except for that time I turned 18 where it is a tradition to celebrate my said coming of age, I don't recall a particular moment that I made a fuss. What I do instead is spoil myself by shopping in Hong Kong, or stroll the streets of another city with just the closest friends, or simply have an intimate dinner with the family in a different buffet restaurant each year. That's how it's always been.

Naturally, I don't expect presents. My folks  aren't the type of people who'd surprise you on a random day plus they're too rational to buy a present that costs more than our monthly electricity bill. Seriously. Penguin has always been generous but that's given, and this year isn't much different. What I didn't expect though is how, as far as generous goes, he can be. It was surprising enough when my dear parents decided to gift me with the little Selma bag which I've always thought of buying, but it threw me way off-guard when just two days prior I was talking to my aunt about a plan to collect MCM leather goods, Penguin decides to surprise me with this big tote. Beside the MCM wallet he so gladly also bought for me a year ago, what else can be a more perfect collection starter than this? Spoiled much? It's safe to assume that I maybe am.

It may be the universe's way of telling me that despite the drama in my life right now, I'm still very lucky. And I totally agree, which is why I'm taking a moment to thank everyone in my life for making me, having me, and keeping me the way I am. I'm equally lucky that you are a part of mine and I am a part of your lives. So thank you!

To my wishes and more birthdays.

  1. Wow, Happy Belated birthday. I can't believe your 24, you look so much younger. That's an amazing gift girl, like you I don't really do much for my birthday but I'm thinking maybe for my 25th birthday I'll do something big.

  4. Aww, so glad you got treated this year!
I'm very similar in that I don't expect much when it comes to presents - but hey, it's better to be practical! Besides, simple and thoughtful gifts are always preferred by me.
But a little splurge here and there can be appreciated too ;)
Haha, hope you had a marvelous birthday Carla!
