Backlogs and whatnot

So here's an outfit backlog from two weekends ago when my family decided to have a picnic and impromptu trekking.

Me. In this outfit. Right.

Fortunately I brought a pair of flats with me to change into as I wasn't expecting to last all day in these heels - they're comfy but the straps otherwise annoy the crap out of me as they tend to detach from the buttons when I walk too fast. So I got to change as expected and even though pointy-toed flats aren't the most suitable shoes to hike with, I made do. Anyway if you're my instagram (@misscarlaviolet) disciple, you'd have seen this outfit and the inspiration behind it already. That particular morning I was daydreaming about Coachella, how I wish I was there like every year, and that sort of translated into this outfit.

But regardless of the festival inspiration, I'm kind of wheeling my way into the 70s trend bandwagon. There's something about off-shoulder, gypsy-looking tops, loose, flared denims, velvet skirts, fringes, and whatnot that's so refreshing. It's like a breath of fresh air from my usual urban aesthetic that suddenly I'm hunting peasant blouses, long-slit maxis, and fringed things from my limited fast fashion brand sources around here. Care to share your hunting grounds?

On a totally unrelated note, here's another backlog (though really, more of a delayed announcement) from last week. I'd gotten a rare chance to be featured in one of Macau's prominent newspapers, Macau Daily Times, and made the front page too! It was the most hilarious day receiving high notes and photos of the paper from family and friends when the article came out. Made me realise just how much PR can do to a person and more importantly, how you guys have really been so supportive of what I do. In light of this, I really really just want to thank you all!

And of course, if you want to read the whole article, you can check out the soft version here.

Cheers!

  5. Oh yes, bring on the 70's trends and Coachella fashion! I'm in love with it too, although I'm adapting my wardrobe more slowly. I've grown quite attached to this streetstyle casual-cool aesthetic that I've been sticking to. However, with H&M's collaboration with a Coachella line, it's been far too easy to add fringed pieces into my closet...hehe
Love this off-the-shoulder top (the next style that's on my hunting list), it's stunning!
