Home Sweet Home
I constantly daydream about beautiful places around the world, make it a point to travel as much as I can and be away from this little place that I call home, that I forget how charming it actually is, specially when the sun is out and blue skies are upon us. A stroll down Coloane on a perfectly sunny Saturday had me reeling memories of the old Macau that I came to know.
My very intention of visiting this slightly remote area of Macau was plainly for brunch and a change of scenery. Coloane was always reserved for those moments, having Lord Stow's bakery as the ultimate go-to for the most scrumptious Macanese snacks while taking a walk along the riverside; if you're feeling a little fancy, right next door is its namesake cafe, serving Macanese dishes derived out of Portuguese and Chinese cuisines. For dinner, there's always Nga Tim - more Macanese dishes, and this seafood restaurant across it that I swear by. All these situated in between pastel coloured Portuguese buildings, vines creeping against their aged and worn out walls, all the while still looking picturesque. It's a no-brainer that certain tourists flock to this area.
Sunglasses out, camera in hand, Penguin and I took a stroll down the alleys of the Coloane Village. The photos that we took on a recent post I did had me thinking why do I always complain about how difficult it is to find a good area, background, or space for my outfit photos, when, whenever I'm abroad, I see every corner instagrammable. It's absurd because in fact, there's a ton of places in Macau that are instagram-worthy; it was, after all, once part of Europe. There's still that European charm.
And so for the first time in a really long while, I felt like a tourist in in my own home, seeing with new eyes, appreciating a new perspective.
Of course, and outfit photos were mandatory. I had on just the perfect grid-printed coordinates with a statement top to take on the heat with, and the prettiest, comfiest, brogues that I recently scored from Zara. An easy and breezy getup for a casual weekend.
What is your take?
