North Cyprus
2022.
Our first ever out-of-the-country trip together since the pandemic began. Pierre and I were truly fortunate to have the opportunity to travel to North Cyprus for work. Layovers in three different countries, multiple flights, and a quick rendezvous with Pierre’s cousin later, we reached the beautiful city of Kyrenia, also known as Girne!
It’s a place I hadn’t known existed until this trip. Notably, it remains absent from many maps, as North Cyprus is only recognized as a country by Turkey. Cyprus is divided into two parts: the southern region is an independent country, while the northern region is a territory occupied by Turkey. In a sense, we find ourselves in a place that feels like no man’s land—yet it is a remarkably beautiful one.
2023.
Pierre and I have returned to Cyprus for work once again, but this time the weather is much better, as it’s the middle of summer. Sunshine and clear blue skies truly transform the atmosphere. The water is warm enough for a refreshing swim, and the resort is in full summer mode, with its beach lounges and oceanside terraces open for guests to relax and unwind. Between work commitments and plenty of delicious meals, I made sure to take time to enjoy the ocean and everything the resort has to offer.
